Happy 2025!
Monaco, baby! Coming to you live from the Denver airport on my way back to France! I know there's probably something deep I could write about flying from my first college town to my current one but I've only had a single glass of wine, so nothing about that now! I know, I know! Every post I seem to be promising more updates and here we are in 2025 with approximately 2.5 to show for the last 3 years. But! 2025 has made me a changed woman. I'm growing ever closer to my quarter

New Year's Resolutions? As if.
In the past, I've hated this question, the concept of resolutions as a whole.

Home For the Holidays
There's something new about being home after college. For me, at least, coming home every year, I felt more and more distanced from my hometown. My favorite places stayed the same, but I didn't. It's taken me a few years to get used to that. To get used to the feeling of running into some people from high school. That weird feeling can quickly become fear. We can quickly resort back to our 16/17-year-old selves, who are awkward or nervous. It's so easy to slip back into what'

Hello, Sunshine.
I think I know how to handle the deaths of grandparents, older relatives, older people. As terrible as it is to say, it's something inevitable, but when it's someone young, taken not just passed, it's different. What I don't think I'll ever grasp is the death of a friend. Not that grandparents or relatives are ever not terrible, but there's a special category for lost friends. It seems to be a different type of loss. Like you can expect to lose family, but friends seem to ca

Put Your Own Mask On Before Assisting Others
Life can lose its oxygen too. It seems as though, in recent months, I've forgotten this (a bit hypocritical considering my theme for 2022 is prioritizing myself). But it's true, no one is of any help to anyone else if they aren't operating at their best selves. Making sure one's own needs take priority is something that I think has taken a back burner for... well... a long f-ing while. Whether it's re-reading my favorite book, singing in my car, or simply drinking a glass of

You’re a Wizard!
Someone play the Harry Potter Theme Song please!! If you know the most basic things about me, you know I love tequila, good food, and books. You also know I’m a sucker for anything and everything Harry Potter (but like in a cool way). I would never get a Deathly Hallows tattoo or put a sticker on my car. Instead, I binge-buy oversized t-shirts on Etsy and am obsessed with Dramione. Regardless of who you ship the Golden Girl with, the Warner Bros. Studio Tour has something fo

So, When am I Moving in?
If my room could be as far from church bells as possible, I do enjoy sleeping in. Also, darker greens and golds compliment my skin tone best, so if that could be arranged as well... I'm obviously talking about Edinburgh Castle; I'll settle for nothing less. It's called self-care. Kidding, they've turned all the pretty bits into offices. But, there's just something about the view that would make living in an old war tower totally doable. Settled on a steep hillside overlookin

Pirlous
This little cafe is simply my new obsession!!! Right under the castle is the best lunch I've had here. Focaccia sandwiches, soup, and 12 different kinds of cake make up Pirlous in the Grassmarket District. I had a Persian chicken sandwich and (don't tell the French) potato leek soup. I'm still in awe of how tasty both were. I couldn't leave without cake, we eat dessert in this household! After snagging a lemon cake for the road, my total was under £10, making it THE cheapest

"Female Interest in the Mysteries of the Kilt"
This had me blushing in a war museum. I was on the hunt for Jamie Fraser himself at the Scotland War Museum in the Edinburgh Castle (of all places). It was actually so exciting, and they had artifacts from almost every war dating back over 600 years. The views were ridiculous, with a 360 degree over the entire city. Besides that, nothing but the one-liner. To be fair, on my way home, I saw, arguably, one of the hottest men in this country. I teared up just looking at him...

Howie's Victoria St.
Good food and good drinks, what more could a girl ask for? Ok, I was a little nervous. I've realized I'm not the best at really looking at the menus before making reservations. That and I need time to look up 1/2 of what's on it to double-check that I'm not accidentally ordering ...[gulps]... haggis. Not shaming anyone for their food choices, but I will abstain from ground organs steamed in other organs, for the time being, thank you very much! So back to Howie's, I was a bit
