So, When am I Moving in?
If my room could be as far from church bells as possible, I do enjoy sleeping in. Also, darker greens and golds compliment my skin tone best, so if that could be arranged as well... I'm obviously talking about Edinburgh Castle; I'll settle for nothing less. It's called self-care. Kidding, they've turned all the pretty bits into offices. But, there's just something about the view that would make living in an old war tower totally doable. Settled on a steep hillside overlookin

Pirlous
This little cafe is simply my new obsession!!! Right under the castle is the best lunch I've had here. Focaccia sandwiches, soup, and 12 different kinds of cake make up Pirlous in the Grassmarket District. I had a Persian chicken sandwich and (don't tell the French) potato leek soup. I'm still in awe of how tasty both were. I couldn't leave without cake, we eat dessert in this household! After snagging a lemon cake for the road, my total was under £10, making it THE cheapest

"Female Interest in the Mysteries of the Kilt"
This had me blushing in a war museum. I was on the hunt for Jamie Fraser himself at the Scotland War Museum in the Edinburgh Castle (of all places). It was actually so exciting, and they had artifacts from almost every war dating back over 600 years. The views were ridiculous, with a 360 degree over the entire city. Besides that, nothing but the one-liner. To be fair, on my way home, I saw, arguably, one of the hottest men in this country. I teared up just looking at him...

Howie's Victoria St.
Good food and good drinks, what more could a girl ask for? Ok, I was a little nervous. I've realized I'm not the best at really looking at the menus before making reservations. That and I need time to look up 1/2 of what's on it to double-check that I'm not accidentally ordering ...[gulps]... haggis. Not shaming anyone for their food choices, but I will abstain from ground organs steamed in other organs, for the time being, thank you very much! So back to Howie's, I was a bit

On Dublin Street by S. Young
Even a cute cartoon cover couldn't save this one.

One Unit of Espresso! Stat!
I may have a caffeine addiction... I've heard that the first step to fixing a problem is admitting that you have one. Good thing I'm not looking to solve it, just for a quick fix. I'm obsessed with a few different coffee shops over here, and even though the UK is known for its tea, I haven't had any. It doesn't help that my hotel room's stocked with a Nespresso machine, milk frother and local coffee pods either... Union Brew Lab Off of South College St., it's a perfect stop

El Cartel
I thought there would never be great Mexican food outside of California. I was so f*cking wrong. This little tequila and taco spot is clearly a local favorite. With three spots around town, I went to the one-off of Teviot by the college just after 12, and it filled up quickly after that. I heard about it from an article in Traveler and was simply unprepared for how good the food would be. I started with a margarita, obviously. It was the bomb with a hint of smoke, so if that

The (Not So Secret) Secret Garden
Dinner with a good book at an expensive restaurant >>> almost everything else. Since it was my first full day up in Scotland, I decided to go all-out. Cocktails, wine, dessert, and, of course, getting overdressed. The Secret Garden by The Witchery is one of my most popular restaurants in the UK. It's easy to see why; candles and flowers everywhere really create a near-perfect date atmosphere. The service was extraordinary and gave great recommendations. I started with a shell

Edinburgh, Obviously.
It's so easy to see how this city influenced the Harry Potter Universe. I'm basically waiting for my favorite Death Eater to pop out around the corner. With everything from graves for real-life Sirius Black and Thomas Riddle to the cobblestone of Victoria St., my inner Slytherin is obsessed. Not only is it like walking through a movie set, but the town is as charming as you'd expect. Complete with bookstores and bars on nearly every corner, it's hard to go wrong. Must-See's S
